Sehwag's blazing 219 powers India win Indore ODI, lead series 3-1 against WI
ndia crushed the West Indies by 153 runs in the fourth cricket one-dayer to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series in Indore on Thursday.
Earlier on the day, flamboyant Indian batsman Virender Sehwag created history by becoming the highest scorer ever in
a one-day innings and the second cricketer after team-mate Sachin Tendulkar to score a double century in the fourth ODI against the West Indies in Indore.
Sehwag smashed his way into record books with his stupendous 219, surpassing Tendulkar's 200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24 last year.
The 33-year-old joined compatriot Sachin Tendulkar as the only batsmen to hit double-centuries in the 50-over format as he moved past 200 in the 44th over of India's innings at the Holkar stadium in Indore.
The hard-hitting Sehwag cracked a four through point off Andre Russell to move from 197 to 201 in a match against West Indies at Holkar Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Tendulkar had set the record against South Africa in Gwalior, India.
Yuvraj Singh tweeted: "I say it again! I never saw Sir Viv bat but I have seen Sehwag bat! What a player! 219 in a One Day game is next to impossible!"
This remarkable achievement gives Sehwag the unique distinction of being India's top scorer in both Tests and ODIs. He had scored 319 against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.
